Formerly known as School of Hygiene, the College of Health Technology was established in 1920 by Dr. I. Oladipo Oluwole, the first Nigerian Medical Officer of Health. At its inception, the school in response to the prevailing health situation and available indigenous health human resources, offered courses for the following categories of Health Workers.
The main focus of LASCOHET since its inception has been in related health care human resource training. Prior to the enactment of the law establishing the College, the courses of study offered by the College had been streamlined into five departments namely:
